Derry, Ultra 2753 has for about the last three months been stuck on D16 CITY CENTRE and it now has been reprogrammed with lower case lettering and I am surprised to say looks well. It looks "clean" as it only shows the yellow letters on black at present but they will likely become messy(as they do).
(2753 was used on service 234 on Monday )
However, I would have thought that they could have worked on the destination blinds first.Over the last 7-8 years Translink have gone for "thick" style lettering (see example of Lisburn's 1500 on this site) which I find difficult to read without my glasses. In Derry nearly all the blinds are the same and I find KILFENNAN and SLIEVEMORE indistinguishable.
Which brings me neatly to Derry's VERY annoying habit of using paper destinations for buses not allocated to the city/country accordingly. They are on A4 paper and the size of the font depends on how long the placename is so the biggest is about 50 point(est) writing which you should try and read from 50 metres away. (You might also be hampered by the fact that the service number might not be correct).
