You could use Ulsterbus service 163 to get to Skegoneill. This is the main service to Kilroot via Carrickfergus and it operates along the Shore Road. This is a service that I always like to get as there is always a good range of different buses operated. This service is mainly operated by Newtownabbey depot and a wide range of different buses are used including the odd Bristol, Tigers ( mainly in the 1320's ), the ex Cityliner Goldliners ( 1343/5/56 ) and also the new Renowns ( 2816 - 20 ). The older buses are only used during the peak times of the day. Also used alot on this service is NB's only Plaxton Goldliner 1568.
