At the weekend I came across a rather interesting picture of 1342 (TXI 1342) in Goldliner livery in a spot of trouble in a field head to head with a tractor!!! The picture was in an old Truck & Driver magazine from March 1997.The story reads
A coach load of tourists heading for the sun and sand of Portrush, met a downpour when climbing a hill, and slid ignominiously into a bog.
Sadly the local friendly farmers tow rope was too short to be of any use, so they opted to push the reluctant omnibus with a tractor instead. MISTAKE NUMBER 1!!!
A Japanese tourist took charge of the situation and wedged a pair of stilsons between the grille and the tractor to protect the windscreen of the coach. MISTAKE NUMBER 2.
All went horribly wrong when the grille cracked and the coach and tractor came together.
Paul if you give me your home address I will send you a copy of the picture. For some reason I can't e-mail scanned pictures.
