Paul Thanks for the map(s) - I asked at both Belfast and Londonderry for an Ulsterbus map and both were quite adamant that there wasn't one! The large map on most bus station walls etc (seemingly the same as yours) was very useful but I really wanted something that I could carry with me/check at some more remote town/interchange point etc. Why is it that most bus offices give out rather poor single-sheet leaflets when the bus station at Armagh immediately gave me a proper 'Local Public Transport Timetable' book which was everything I could have wanted?. It was particularly frustrating at Londonderry to have the clerk tell me there was no bus to Coleraine for about 3 hours when I then walked out and saw one leave a few minutes later (about 11 a.m)- I think they must assume that 'tourists' must only want a direct express service - why, half the joy of travelling by bus is to go off the main roads through the villages etc! As you say, however, it was quite a pleasant trip along the northern coastline on the train (once the driver had bothered to turn up!). As an aside, I travelled by train a few times and never once had my ticket checked by anybody - the conductor/guard on the Coleraine trip said hello as he passed me at the start of the run but then spent the entire journey in with the driver.
