This is what I do when in Belfast, get the buses that serve shopping centres rather than estates to be on the safe side. Remember the fare is 68p regardless of distance travelled. If you are here by 10am I think the 1000 or 1020 to Altnagelvin is a Bristol. This goes near to Lisnagelvin shopping centre and would be difficult to get lost. However there is more variety on the go on the evening after about 3pm. The D8, D9 and D16 to Curryneirin, Gobnascale and Kilfennan respectively also go to Lisnagelvin Centre and generally hve a couple of Bristols on their peak runs.
Going to the Cityside The D10 to Slievemore goes evert 10 minutes, passes Northside Centre eventually. You are coming close to it once you pass the "frying pan"(it is not a pub but the name given by some drivers to a road which would otherwise be a dead end if it wasn't for the Turning Circle at the end if it).
Another option is the D6 to Ballymagroarty (called Groarty sometimes by the drivers) which passes the Springtown Centre and goes about every 20-25mins.
Don't worry if you don't pass landmarks you saw initially as many routes are effectively "circular"
The Slievemore rarely has Bristols-the other ones might prove more fruitful
    Happy Travelling!!!
