    Timetables

Excellent! - it was the one part of my trip that seemed to stand out as warranting early attention. I've travelled quite extensively throughout the U.K and much of the world but found the lack of 'logical' timetables in N.I surprising in an area where rural services often predominate. The young clerk I spoke to in the Londonderry office seemed confident, but gave out little useful information although the help in the Belfast, Gt Vic St, Bus Office was a little better - the problem seems to be, as you say, the leaflets themselves. All the time that a single service leaflet is produced any clerk is most likely to give out just the main one (particularly for tourists) but the low frequency of many routes render that inadvisable - not everyone wants an express service down just the main road to the next main town. The comprehensive booklet automatically handed over at Armagh was wonderful but even a composite leaflet of all services between main areas would be a step in the right direction.
